Hello fellow Project Managers! I am doing research on issues PM’s deal with on a daily basis… professionally, personally, education-wise, etc. I am developing a Teleclass for PM’s and want to gear it towards issues most relevant to your daily lives!
What are your biggest challenges on projects? What do you like best about what you do? How do you feel about certification? What skills would you like to develop? How does your work affect your personal life? What are the tricks you use to be most effective?
In exchange for 30-minutes (or less) of your time and wisdom, I will provide a complimentary 60-minute Coaching session on the subject of your choosing (to be scheduled at a different time).
If you are interested, please email me at marie@tetherfreevision.com with “INTERVIEW” in the subject line by SATURDAY, 2/6/10. I will contact you to schedule a 30-minute phone interview.
Please note this is open to currently practicing Project Managers.

As an IT Business Analyst or Project Manager, are your projects plagued by problems such as unresponsive business stakeholders, unclear expectations, pointing fingers, missed deadlines? Do project critical business decisions seem to take forever? These common issues can cause high stress and frustration, repeated mistakes, wasted time and rework. Do your stakeholders then wonder why “IT didn’t get it right”?
Business stakeholders sometimes see IT work as the “black box”, the unknown. Coupled with their own work demands, there can be a tendency to hang back and think “IT will make it happen”. Whether you’re a PM or BA, there are ways to increase the level of business engagement and ownership on your projects.
Learn how to proactively design more successful outcomes, while building credibility and enhancing relationships with your business community. Gain tips on how to educate them about working with IT teams in partnership to create a more positive overall project experience. (PMBOK/BABOK aligned)

New Year's resolutions can be hard to keep. You probably start off great at the beginning of January, but by the time February rolls around, you find yourself eating poorly, making excuses not to go to the gym, spending money on objects you don't really need, and showing up late for appointments. Most resolutions are goals to change our behavior, and this requires a massive overhaul of our daily life. Let a personal coach assist you in developing an action plan that will help you achieve your goals, and show you techniques to track your progress, change past behaviors, and motivate yourself. This is the year you just may succeed at setting realistic goals, losing weight or finding a new job, and best of all, keeping your resolutions throughout the whole year.
So what is "project management" anyway? According to the Project Management Institute, an international management-advocacy organization with more than 240,000 members in over 160 countries, "A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result." This broad definition can be applied to projects of any size, scope or industry, as well as to personal or home projects. In this class, you'll obtain a high-level understanding of a step-by-step approach to successfully running and implementing projects of all kinds—personal and professional alike—addressing the planning and monitoring of time, cost, quality, resources, communication, and risk.
To live is to experience transitions. Changing careers, retiring, going back to school, and other life events are changes that we all face at one time or another. By resisting change and ignoring its effects on our emotional health we lose an opportunity for self-empowerment and may create more stress than that derived from the transition itself. If you are seeking change or want more fulfillment out of life but don't know where to begin, this is the class for you. Through lecture and small group discussion, you will learn ways of developing a sense of mastery from your life transitions. We'll explore fresh perspectives for options and opportunities, learn how to trust our inner voice, realize our natural strengths, and nurture your creativity. With this knowledge, you will understand how to shake things up and meet future transitions with confidence.
Do you feel like there's never enough time in the day to get everything done? Are you often unprepared, or show up late for appointments, feeling disorganized and frantic? Is your office at home or work scattered with papers and to-do lists that you can't seem to get to? There are ways, whether at home or at work, to organize your time, minimize stress, become more effective, and enhance credibility. Learn how to take control, set priorities, plan your time, and work more efficiently with less effort. Through discussion and exercises, you will learn strategies to help you understand your relationship to time and how to use them. Discover that how we deal with time has a lot to do with how we balance our own and other's needs, and how we seek meaning in our lives.
Are there obstacles in your life that stand in the way of your success and happiness? Perhaps you're dealing with stress at home or at your job, family illness, financial issues, or an overloaded schedule? Resiliency is the ability to spring back from and successfully adapt to adversity. Resilient people are often flexible in their thinking, endure difficulty with a realistic outlook, and use the experience in self-empowering ways. In our sessions, we'll learn to build our resiliency to live a full and well-balanced life, and we'll address methods for self care, stress reduction, and intention setting. You will have the opportunity to understand and assess your own situation, to identify the obstacles and areas that need to be changed, and plan your next step toward restoring and harnessing your energy.
Are you a young woman aged 20-24? Are you the mother of a young adult daughter? Mom, are you stumbling through how to make the transition from teacher, guardian and protector, to friend and confidant? Are you, as daughter, wanting to make a shift to relate as more of a peer? So what’s next in this multifaceted relationship, and how do you get there from here? Join other mother-adult daughter pairs as we share challenges and surprises of this significant transition time. Explore ways to turn everything upside-down to create a different connection and appreciation from new perspectives! Wear comfortable clothing and bring your favorite picture of your mother/daughter!
Do you have a project in mind that seems too large to tackle? Are you confused about how to plan for it and start? Do you tend to be disorganized in your approach? Project Management skills can be applied to personal, home or professional projects of any size, scope or industry. Learn the basic tools professional Project Managers use to create successful results. Obtain a high-level understanding of a step-by-step approach to running and implementing your own projects, through planning and monitoring of time, cost, quality, resources, communication and risk.
